Your site will be submitted to various
smaller search engines, directories, and pay-per-click
sites as determined back in our
"Keyword Research"
phase. Some of the directories may
require additional fees based on the plan you have selected
and how soon you'd like your results to begin appearing.
Some of the sites include a 'rush' or 'express' option,
where you pay additional money to be evaluated much
quicker (usually within a few business days).
Submitting to Search Engines
For the major search engines such as Google and Yahoo,
direct search engine submission may not have any value.
In fact, the best way to be indexed into these engines
is to get a link to your site from a high ranking site.
Smaller search engine are also notified that you'd like
your site evaluated by their spiders for inclusion into
their search results. In the previous step
(search engine optimization), we changed your web pages
to be optimally evaluated by the search engine robots.
Submitting to Directories
Directories such as Yahoo! are maintained by human reviewers
who will evaluate your site and its description (adjusting
it if necessary) before it is included into their result.
Which directories and which keywords to emphasize were
determined in our
"Keyword Research"
phase. Very meticulous detail goes
into phrasing your suggested site description so that
it 1) contains your best keywords, and 2) provides a
catchy description that your target customer will want
to click on.
Submitting to Pay-Per-Click engines
With Pay-per-click (PPC) listings, you 'bid' on which
search terms you wish to appear under. The higher amount
you are willing to pay for each person clicking to enter
your site, the higher your listing will be ranked for
that given search term. Bids for top placement can be
from $0.01 per click up to $1.00 or more depending on
the search term and which PPC search engine you are
using. One major advantage over regular search engine
submissions is that you get to choose a custom description
for each keyword you submit. This is important because
you can 'fine-tune' each description so the user can
better decide if your site is what he is looking for.
If the user doesn't click on the listing for your site,
you don't get charged anything.
Today, having pay-per-click listings works well for
supplementing your web traffic. Most search engines
(including MSN, Yahoo, AOL, and Alta Vista) use some
form of pay-per-click results as their top 3 results.
These are usually under the heading of "Sponsored
Listings", though it varies with each search engine.
That means that even if your web site has the #1 ranking
for a given keyphrase with a search engine, the highest
it will appear is in the 4th spot. While some users
will skip over these Sponsored Listings, many others
will use them (even thinking they are 'preferred listings'
by the trusted web search engine).
We can help to construct your descriptions in a way
that will catch your potential customer's attention
and generate the most targeted visitors to your web
site. Submitting to the pay-per-click engines can usually
be done as soon as the Keyword Research phase is complete
to get your web traffic started as soon as possible.
