After deciding which key-phrases will
use each strategy, the next step is optimizing your
web pages to target those terms. The bottom line is,
if your site comes up before your competitors, you have
a better chance of getting the business.
Search Engine Optimization
Search engines use 'robot' programs that look at your
site and try to determine which keywords are most relevant
to your page. In the mid 1990's, a common technique
for achieving better rankings was to put a bunch of
your keywords on your web page...the more the better
seemed to be the rule back then. The problem was, someone
else would come along and 'one-up' you by adding even
more of the target search terms to their web site. As
you can see, this would become an endless cycle of larger
and larger web pages without any real added content.
Today, each search engine uses smarter proprietary
algorithms that are ever-changing to try and filter
out those sites trying to unfairly manipulate the rankings,
while reporting what it perceives as the most relevant
sites for the keywords searched. Your goal? To structure
your web page so that it appears to be the most relevant
site for a given set of search phrases.
We use a combination of automated web tools and manual
page optimization techniques to make your site appear
more relevant to the search engines without getting
your site 'penalized'. This process involves much more
than just jamming a bunch of keywords onto your web
page. We use state-of-the-art tools to evaulate and
optimize your pages to target your customer's searches.
In many cases, your modified web page may not visually
appear much different that it did before. But it will
appear a whole lot different to the search engine robots
who download and analyze your web pages. After your
web pages are optimized, they are finally ready to be
submitted to the search engines for evaluation (or re-evaluation).
